Title: Wokini

Author: Nicholas Sparks & Billy Mills

Pages: 176

Publisher:  Hay House Inc

Synopsis: “Wokini”, translated from Lakota, means “seeking a new beginning” or “seeking a new vision”. This book will teach you about yourself, show you what it means to be happy, and lead you on your own personal journey to feel more satisfied in your life. In Wokini, you will find the key to peace of mind and self-understanding. “Wokini” is a blend of modern therapeutic principles, positive thinking; self-awareness; and Native American beliefs in meditation, thought, dreams, and respect for the harmony and balance of nature.

This book was THE book that helped me when I was struggling. At his own way Nicholas Sparks showed me the true meaning of happiness, how to seek it, how to feel it, how to achive it.

Many of you may think that because it’s a Nicholas Sparks’ book it’s a romance, it’s not. This is a story about a boy named David who just lost sister and lost his way. As his dad encourages him he goes on a long trip seeking for a way to be happy again, during his journey David learns a lot of lessons, but can he be happy again?

This book made me question, am I really happy? Deeply? Truly? Madly? No, of course not, but why not? Why can’t we be truly deeply madly happy? Because we keep doing it all wrong. Happiness comes from inside, and that’s the lesson David wants to learn on his long journey. What about you, are you happy? Or are you still on your journey towards it?

I give it 5 stars, but I wish I could give it infinite stars because you can’t put a “price” on happiness.

The Reader Confessions

Hello book lovers 🙂 Sorry for my absence, I had some problems and I was unable to post here. I had exams, one of them didn’t go so well…, then my cat died, now my phone is breaking down. But well I missed this so much and missed you guys so much, I am trying to post more here and on instagram because I really love it, and because if I don’t I miss it and miss this amazing community. I hope you guys can forgive my absence. Today I bring you guys a tag:

Thank you Ana from The Girl who Reads Books for tagging me, this tag is cool because you can know more about the bookish side of someone.

1. Have you even ruined a book?
Maybe when I was little, but I’ve always been careful with my books. Although I remember once I cutted my finger on the paper turning the page of the book and bleeded into the book, I tried to clean it and only made it worse.

2. Have you ever ruined a borrowed book?
I don’t usually borrow books, I prefer to have my own. But even if I borrowed books I would be extra careful with them.

3. How long do you take reading a book?

Well it depends if I have a lot of school work or not, if I do have a lot of work and exams normally I will take 1 to 2weeks reading a book. Normally I don’t take more than a week, my record was reading 300 pages in one day (The Casual Vancancy by JK Rowling).

4. Books you never finished?

I think I always finished the books I started.

5. Popular books you didn’t like?
The Maias by Eça de Queiroz, a portuguese book. People talk about it here in Portugal and we have to read it to school and I didn’t like the way he writes at all. The story is okay but the writing got me all mixed up

6. There’s any book you wouldn’t tell people you read?
I am not ashamed of my book taste. I read what I read. I like what I like. tumblr_ne3whqxbth1tko65co6_500

7. How many books do you own?
102 at the moment. I hope I can rise up this number gradually so one day I have a big and beautiful book collection.

8. Are you a kick or slow reader?

It depends, like I said if I have school work I will take long to read book, if I am on vacations I can read like up to 2 books a day (depending on the size of the book).

9. Do you like having a reading buddy?
I never tried it! But I am looking foward to.

10. Do you prefer to read out loud or to yourself?

I prefer to read to myself because if I read out loud I will end up losing the story and will have to read it again.

11. If you could only read one book which one would be and why?
That’s like asking a mother which one is her favorite child, it’s like asking a star wars fan to choose just one movie, it’s like giving you 102 ice cream flavours and only letting you choose one. I just can’t choose! Can you?

2017 Goals

Reading Goals

  • Read 35 books: Due to university I don’t know if I can manage to read more than 35 books but I hope I can achieve this goal and maybe even read more than those 35 books.
  • Books on discount: This year I am only buying books on discount (20% up of discount), it’s a good way to control addiction to buying books. I really need to read the ones on my tbr, I don’t want to pile up unread books on my shelves.
  • Re-read Harry Potter:  I ordered the complete Harry Potter box set from book depository, I am waiting for it to arrive so I can dig in (once again) in the Harry Potter world.
  • Finish my series: I have 3 incomplete series that I have to finish before I start new collections, “The Mortal Instruments” ( I have all the books but I still have to read the last two, I am currently reading “City of Lost Souls”), “A saga das pedras mágicas” (this series has 8 books, I have 6 of them and I have read 5 of them) and finally ” The Chronicles of Narnia” (I have only one book and I have read none).

    Life Style Goals

  • Get my license: I am currently taking my car license and I hope I will finish it soon.
  • Organize my study: I need to organize my study better, I am already doing it and it seems to be working. Now that I know more less how I have to study in college things are going better.
  • Exercise more: I wish I had time! I made a promise to myself: when I finish taking my car license I am gonna start going to the gym, I have one near my house that is perfect. The installations are new and it has everything you can imagine.
  • Stop eating junk food: It’s true I eat so much junk food, I need/want to have a more healthy life style towards to food. There are so many healthy and delicious things and I am going to start cooking them.
  • Zero Waste: I am trying to adopt a zero waste life style. Basically it consists on reducing as much as you can the garbage you produce. I still have to research about it but I am definitely going to adopt this life style this year.

Blogging Goals

  • Be more consistent: sometimes I am weeks without posting, and other times I post like 3 posts in one day. So I am going to try to post 2 times a week.
  • Improve my posts: I need to start taking pictures and edit them to post them here. Start making more beautiful and consistent heading images. I need also to improve my writing, but as English is my second language it’s going to take some more time but I am getting there.
  • Answer tags: I have so many tags to answer, but I am going to answer them all I promise!

And I guess that’s it, what are your goals for 2017?
