The Longest Ride

the_longest_ride_sparks_novelTitle: The Longest Ride

Author: Nicholas Sparks

Pages: 398

Publisher: Little, Brown & Company

Synopsis: Ira Levinson is in trouble. Ninety-one years old and stranded and injured after a car crash, he struggles to retain consciousness until a blurry image materializes beside him: his beloved wife Ruth, who passed away nine years ago. Urging him to hang on, she forces him to remain alert by recounting the stories of their lifetime together – how they met, the precious paintings they collected together, the dark days of WWII and its effect on them and their families. Ira knows that Ruth can’t possibly be in the car with him, but he clings to her words and his memories, reliving the sorrows and everyday joys that defined their marriage. A few miles away, at a local bull-riding event, a Wake Forest College senior’s life is about to change. Recovering from a recent break-up, Sophia Danko meets a young cowboy named Luke, who bears little resemblance to the privileged frat boys she has encountered at school. Through Luke, Sophia is introduced to a world in which the stakes of survival and success, ruin and reward — even life and death – loom large in everyday life. As she and Luke fall in love, Sophia finds herself imagining a future far removed from her plans — a future that Luke has the power to rewrite . . . if the secret he’s keeping doesn’t destroy it first. Ira and Ruth. Sophia and Luke. Two couples who have little in common, and who are separated by years and experience. Yet their lives will converge with unexpected poignancy, reminding us all that even the most difficult decisions can yield extraordinary journeys: beyond despair, beyond death, to the farthest reaches of the human heart.

I absolutely loved this book! It’s one of my favorites by the master, Nicholas Sparks. This is not just a love story, but the life story of three amazing characters, Luke, Sofia and Ira.

Luke is just a farm boy, he lives a simple life. He works hard at this parents farm every singe day without a break. Sofia is a classy girl, she loves art and she studies at Wake Forest College. How would they fall in love with each other? Nicholas Sparks was able to join their two universes and create a beautiful love story.

But Luke and Sofia’s relationship isn’t perfect, Luke lied, Sofia can’t forgive him. Can they find a way of reminding themselves of the love that unites them?

A long side with Luke and Sofia’s love story it’s Ira and Ruth’s love story, they lived a full life. Even though Ruth died their love didn’t, the bond that unites them can trespass the barriers of death. And now Ira’s is dying and only thing he holds om to is their love story.

But how these 2 love stories bond together? That’s the beauty of the book. Read it and you will understand. Words can’t express how much I loved this book. I give it 5/ 5 stars:

The Peculiar Tag

This is a really fun tag, thank you Ana from The Girl Who Reads Books for tagging me.

This tag was created to celebrate the release of “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” movie. It was created by Jesse The Read.
This tag was brought to the blog world by Caçadoras de Spoilers  (I think).
So let’s do this!

1) Abandoned House: A book that you abandoned but you end up giving a second chance.

9789723806038

But I ended up not liking it anyway, someone spoiled me the end of it. And I think this author’s writing is so old that it’s difficult to understand some expressions that are no longer used in the Portuguese language. For those who never heard of it, this is really old a well known Portuguese book, that everyone has to read for school. In english I believe that the title is “The Maias”.

2) Vintage Pictures: A Book that you wanted to see illustrated

I would die if they illustrated “The Mortal Instruments”! I love this series (I still have to read the last two but I love it anyway). It’s one of favourite series and I would love to see them illustrated.

3) Loop: A series you wouldn’t mind reading over and over again

I would read them over and over without getting tired ❤

4) Peculiar Children: An ability of a character that you would like to have

Catelyn and Edwina’s magic, they ability to control their magic is amazing and their magic itself is amazing!!

5) Mrs Peregrine: A favorite character that is a leader

26085520

Pete totally stole my heart, he can have some flaws but who doesn’t? That’s what makes him unique

6) Jacob: A story where a normal boy discovers a new world

harry-potter-philosophers-stone-jonny-duddle

Harry Potter, what else?

7) Emma: A brave character

liv01220068_f

Thora is the bravest girl I’ve ever seen, she’s a warrior in a world where a girl being able to fight is wrong, girls are supposed to stay at home taking care of their children but that’s not the life for her. Did she accomplished the life she wanted? Read the book 😀

8) Millard: A book that looks invisible but should be read for more people

capa_socrates_in_love_o_amor_sobrevive_ao_tempo_01_g

The tittle in portuguese is “Um grito de amor desde o centro do mundo” and it’s the most beautiful book I’ve read! This book it’s just a love story, it teaches you so much about life.

9) Olive: A book that you bought and went straight ahead to the top of your tbr

harry_potter_and_the_cursed_child_special_rehearsal_edition_book_cover

I don’t need to explain it right? I had to read it!

10) Hugh: A book that you read that gave you so many feels

the_longest_ride_sparks_novel

Looks cliche and silly but I loved this book, I cried so much and almost all of my cries were of happiness! I am writing a review on this one so stay tuned!

11) Enoch: A character you would bring back to life

You guys know what I am talking about, I don’t wanna give anyone spoilers.

12) Bronwyn: A physically strong character

Throst ♥

13) Hollowgast: A book that you read and you didn’t liked

9789723806038

I didn’t liked this writing in ” The Maias” but  I am gonna give him a second chance one day.

14) Wights: A book that looks like it used all the cliches you have already seen before

the_fault_in_our_stars

But I loved it anyway! Cried so much but loved it with all my heart

By Hook or By Book

October 2016 Tbr

Because of university I know I will not have much time to read that’s why my Tbr is so small, I might start a third book this moth but I highly doubt I will finish it this month. The majority of day it’s occupied with classes, and I have to study also, and this leaves almost no time for reading.

So the first book I am going to read is “Os Três Reinos” by Sandra Carvalho, it’s a portuguese book from a fantasy series ” A Saga das Pedras Mágicas”. It’s the 5th book and I couldn’t be more excited about it! The series are one of favorites, and the last book’s final was not pretty so it only left me more curious.

The second book I am reading is ” An Abudance of Katherines” by John Green, I’ve heard a lot of good critics about it so let’s see if it’s that good. I love John Green’s books so I am sure I will love it. Hopes high for this one.

Have you read any of this books? Let me know your opinion 🙂

[TAG] This or this?

Today I bring you a very fun tag, it’s also my first tag here in the blog. I hope you guys like it.

The tag’s name is “This or This” and I was tagged by The Girl Who Reads Books. The tag consists in a book battle, the books I am gonna use where chosen by the person who tagged me and the first book was the wining book in The Girl Who Reads Books battles. It’s supposed for us to choose the book we like more or the book we have most curiosity in reading.

If you have any doubts please don’t hesitate in commenting.

Rules:

  • Mention the blog who tagged you in the beginning of your post;
  • The first book is the book that won the battle of the person who tagged you;
  • You have to follow the order of the book’s list the other person has gave you, explain why you chose the book;
  • Once you have your wining book, you chose 7 books for the people you tag.

1st Round: The Selection VS Falling Kingdoms

I want to read both of them, but “Falling Kingdoms” is a fantasy book and it sounds like the author created an amazing world so I am choosing that one.

2nd Round: Falling Kingdoms vs The Raven Boys

I am going to choose “Falling Kingdoms” again because the opinions I heard about “The Raven Boys” weren’t the best.

3rd Round: Falling Kingdoms VS Confess

I really want to try Colleen Hoover’s books but not as much as I want to try this universe that Morgan Rhodes has created.

4th Round: Falling Kingdoms VS The Girl on the Train

Well this is hard, but “The Girl on the Train” movie is almost going out here in Portugal I guess I want to read “The Girl on the Train” first so that I can I watch the movie as soon as possible.

5th Round: The Girl on The Train VS Never Look Back

I was never really curious about Lesley Pearse’s writing but I will try a book by her some day, for now I want to read ” The Girl on the Train”

6th Round: The Girl on the Train VS Everything Everything

This is a hard choice. I love a good old contemporary book but “The Girl on the Train” is a book that really  intrigues me, so Paula Hawkins’ book wins once again.

7th Round: The Girl on the Train VS Calendar Girl – July, August and September

First of all I want to read the first two volumes of “The Calendar Girl” before I read the Volume 3 so it’s an obvious choice, “The Girl on the Train”

Wining book:

the-girl-on-the-train

My list of books:

1- ” The Longest Ride” by Nicholas Sparks

2- “The Casual Vacancy” by JK Rowling

3- “City of Glass” by Cassandra Clare

4- “Everland” by Wendy Spinale

5- “Death with Interruptions” by José Saramago

6- “Socrates in Love” By Kyoichi Katamaya

7- “Paper Towns” by John Green
